Default Looking for OEM part

Hi there,

I'm looking for an OEM replacement part (Part No. 71110-53160) from my 2008 ISF. The dealership received an error code when trying to recalibrate the system however I was told this part has been discontinued by the Lexus/Toyota. Looking for advice and/or suggestions on where to find this part for sale. Any information or guidance would be much appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Passenger seat adjuster if I got that right? You might want to try a salvage yard.

That part number is the whole passenger's seat frame with seat adjuster. What were they recalibrating?

They were recalibrating/resetting the internal computer and the passenger side airbag was not being recognized and giving an error code for a faulty sensor. I was told the '08 ISF sensors are part of the seat frame assembly which is the part that needs to be replaced.

Did they share the DTCs with you? There are two components in the occupant classification system, a pressure sensing pad and an ECU. Both seem to be available separately from the seat frame, and the repair manual describes replacing the pressure sensor and ECU as individual parts.

They did not share the DTCs with me but I'll ask for them and clarify which component is faulty. I'm assuming its the pressure sensor and not the ECU since there hasn't been any mention of the ECU in my previous conversations.

Appreciate the help/insight!

DTCs that came back are:
  • DTC: B1650 Occupant Classification System Malfunction
  • DTC: B1797 Calibration Abnormal
Quote from the Service Center:
"Of course the ECU was just replaced (it is separate from the seat frame) however the Sensor is what we need now in order to complete the Calibration, however according to our parts department, you can not get it separate as it is part of the frame."

That's not what I see in my parts source. I see the classification pad, seat heater, cushion, and cover sold as a unit. Not the frame. The part number for this is 71001-53J10-C0. But I'd also ask if they checked the seat belt latch. I'd call it a lot more likely for the belt latch to fail and cause this problem than the classification system failing. That's very odd.

Thanks for the response!

Are you able to share your parts source? I'll double check with them to see if they looked at the seat belt latch as the potential cause of the failure.

One of many if you search for the part number.

The classification pad is at the bottom of the stack.

It looks like that's a different sensor than what's needed. They confirmed this is what is needed and is not separate from the frame (highlighted in green)

Classification pad is highlighted in yellow. The seat heater element is highlighted in orange.

Better drawing here. First is the part number I gave you. Second is the part number you gave us. There is no classification pad in the second part.

There's couple on Ebay right now. Part no. 89105-0W050

https://www.ebay.com/itm/16506746417...Cclp%3A2047675

I bought one through there too that I'm using now in my recaro pole position. If that's really what you need.

The service center is pretty adamant that its a completely different sensor that can only be purchased with the frame assembly. Unfortunately, I'm out of my depth here with car parts so not sure which part source is correct.
