Hello!

I am looking to purchase an ISF, and I found one without the navigation screen. This means no backup camera, and after owning newer cars for years, that is one thing I do love about modern cars. I also wanted to switch the screen out for something that supports Apple Car Play, but since this one doesn't have a screen, is it possible to add a screen into the non-nav 2008 ISF?

I'm assuming it also doesn't have the ML audio right? If so there's dash kits that will managed the HVAC controls and you can use a double din with Carplay/Android Auto and add the rear camera. Any good audio shop can do this. Starting without the Nav and upgrading it is way better than having nav in my opinion.

 

lol. You found a unicorn, might as well find another F if you're wanting to add so much to it. The slick top non-nav ISFs are rare and perfect for Track use.

I was reading that they're quite rare when having non-nav! I wouldn't be tracking the car, and unfortunately, ISFs are VERY hard to find in Canada right now, so I gotta go with what I can find!

 

No kidding! My buddy's old rebuilt 2008 went thru 4x owners in 3yrs. Was a nice car, last I saw it sold for 23k cad (with ~180km)

 

yes, its rare to have no nav, even more rare if it didn't have the sunroof. If it didn't have a sunroof I would have selfishly asked if you could find another ISF and let that unicorn go to someone who would truly appreciate the lack of those options

Or you can look at crutch field or Best Buy for any units that will fit in the double DIN. The normal NAV screen units are not upgradeable since the AC controls are built in, but you are able to. Similarly why GX470/LX470 without nav are so sought after, far easier to upgrade.

 

That's hilarious that this is the first reply - it's the first thing I thought of too.
It sucks to lose the backup cam, but I say go for the minimalist dash! Back in the day an old friend of mine special ordered his 2013 e92 m3 to have the most stripped down dash and I thought it was so cool.
Please post back what you end up doing, this is a unique one.
