ISF Cluster Upgrade
Hi All,
I have upgraded the cluster on my 2009 ISF to a 2013 cluster.
Everything is working as it should apart from the TRC light is not showing up when the button is pressed. Even ok start up the light isn’t showing up. Off the car on a bench test all lights up as it should, so the light is there.
Any ideas?

I recall @ISFPOWER back in the day when he still had ISF upgraded to the 2011+ cluster. I remember he had it installed and programmed by dealer under warranty , wondering if he can chime in if his TRC indicator light was working.

Seems from the pics same issue as mine.

The issue is the entire communication system changed and it's not as simple as just swapping earlier parts over. The skid ecu used to control the light, in 2011 the brake actuator assembly controls all of that and there is no skid ecu like you found out.
The solution I found is hard wiring the trac LED to be controlled outside of the cluster (just isolate the LED inside the cluster and run a power and ground out of the cluster) Then you can have it turn on however you want, with a delay timer, or something tied to the actual switch vs CAN actuation.

Toyota did this same thing with the Supras. Early models had a completely different ABS configuration than the 1996 and later models. There was no way to swap between the two generations. There is plenty of evidence to support Lexus rethinking the whole VDIM system on the IS F, and there is clear evidence they changed all the switch gear in the later models which is why I mentioned the potential for issues when swapping these units. Not to mention the time I looked at trying to use the JDM Supra turbo center sections in my US turbos because they used ceramic exhaust wheels. No way that was ever going to happen, and with what Stu Hagen does now, it would have been a complete waste of time and effort anyway.
So it sounds like you'd need a donor car to make this work like the factory intended, and it would be an incredible labor of love to implement. Or you just need to ignore the loss of the VSC indication.
