Default Performance motor mounts

I’m currently building a low milage 08 ISF. The car is currently my daily driver and may be for another year or so as I’m hesitant to by a daily driver and supercharge my car during the pandemic. Going forced induction on E85 isn’t cheap, so I may end up staying NA for another year to two years. Having said that I’m currently tuned (RR Racing) with a full car back system and will be having headers and front bushings installed later this month. I did purchase a set of motor mounts (RR Racing) with the headers, but have since wondered if I should have them run them while my ISF is my daily driver. Can anyone tell me from experience whether or not the upgraded motor mounts are a nuisance when driving daily? (FYI my mufflers are valved so I have the option of quieting the full exhaust when desired. My ISF also has under 60K miles so the OEM motor mounts should be good for a while)

Please describe any and all differences between OEM motor mounts and performance/Racing motor mounts.

Thanks

I would install them with the headers since the subframe will be down and they will be accessible. If you put them
in later you will be paying for or doing double labor.

While driving there is no difference except for more responsiveness and firmer shifting in manual mode due to
the stiffer mounts. While idling you will feel some increased vibrations, most of which can be eliminated by
driving with the parking lights on as that slightly increases the rpms of the motor offsetting much of the
vibration increase.

I find the RR racing mounts to be a great upgrade and would not want to go back to oe mounts.

Appreciate the response and advice Mike. Your opinions on the differences seem to be in line with the research I did prior to purchasing, and in the same direction I was leaning on in regards to running the racing mounts.

After about 5 months of ownership of my first ISF I couldn’t be more satisfied with the car and am looking forward to having the EQL PPE headers, motor mounts, and USRS R&T bushings installed later this month. I feel like those modifications alone will transform the character of the car from a driving standpoint, let alone allow me to truly dial in the RR racing tune with the addition of the headers.

Next step up for me is improve the suspension even further over OEM. I’m looking to go with a quality coil over kit that is adjustable both in regards to dampening and height. Something that it capable of being set for a nice daily driver type comfortable ride, to a setting that will be capable of performing on the track one day. I should say that while I intend to track my car in the future I can also say I never plan on pushing the car beyond its limits to the point where breaking things would be expected. Conservative track driving would be a good way to describe my intentions, though I’m sure I’ll end up pushing the car more and more as I get more confident and continue to improve the performance platform. Having said that after researching online I’ve narrowed it down to two possibilities: 1)Ohlins Road & Track coil overs or 2) KW V3 coil over kit. Both kits are priced right at $2,500.

Any opinions and or/ recommendations on which kit is better for my mentioned needs and plans for the car is greatly appreciated.

Thanks again

I sure am enjoying my Ohlins R&T coilover kit, but it is $3800.
The Ohlins USA website listing (LES Mi00S1) for $2600 is a kit designed for the IS250/350.

Also, note that the KW V3 kit requires machining and re-use of the factory rear mounts. Not a huge deal, but a bit irritating at that price, in my perspective.

The KW kit also has plastic spring perches, which some members have broken while driving.

The Figs Ohlins R&T kit is what you need, or the RR Penske are in the same price range (less than 4K). The Penske seem to be more performance oriented, the Ohlins more street. You can go cheaper, but you have to expect cheaper results.
