Default Latest Lexus reprogramming recall for tuned intake?

I’m gonna be ordering RR’s tuned intake soon and I was reading on their website that you need to make sure the car has the latest Lexus reprogramming recall impemented. Did any of you guys that have this intake and tune have this checked? And what exactly is a reprogramming recall?

That's actually a good question you brought up. Unfortunately I'm taking the car to the dealer to get some stuff checked out next weekend. I'll ask about it when I get there.

I just checked all recalls. This one is not listed and is a new one on me

Why not call RRRacing and ask them?

Probably talking about the accelerator recall we had on the earlier years...that’s the only recall I’ve ever had that needed reprogramming

Safety recall 9LG is the only ECM update for any year IS F. There are two for Canada and one for the US, but they are all for the same reason. There are no other updates of any kind.

And, that update messes with the throttle/brake settings. Removing the ability to trail brake. That is the one recall that I did not do.

Can you expand on that Lou? What is 9LG? That's not the accelerator pedal replacement?

Yes and a new software load for the ECM to disallow braking and throttle concurrently. You can still trail brake, but you can't left foot brake, so no rotating the car with the brake while you are on the gas.

Always appreciate your posts lobux, I am assuming that was fallout from the 'unintended acceleration' fiasco from a few years ago?

Precisely. I've actually never done mine. I've also tested it in the GS F, and it's not horribly intrusive initially, but it will override the throttle for braking eventually and it lights up the dash with warnings.

Emailed RR about this today and this is what I got back:

This message is for foreign customers. For some cats unless the latest file was programmed by the dealer, we cannot tune the ECU. You don’t really have to worry about it.
