Interesting that you are getting gear noise, I have the xforce exhaust with varex mufflers and even with the valve closed on the mufflers I can not hear any gear whine.
Did you notice an improvement in the way the rear end feels, particularly during hard acceleration?

Did you fill the diff with the correct fluid?

I'm totally stock, so its probably just lack of any other noises. The whine is very minute, but I my ears pick it up modulating the throttle. As far as feeling more planted, I am still running the junk economy tires the previous owner put on, so I never had wheel hop to begin with. Perhaps with some sticky tires I'd notice a difference.
I'm really just trying to reduce this on/off throttle slop in the drivetrain. I do a lot of high revving mountain driving modulating the throttle and all my passengers turn into bobble heads during light throttle transitions. There's definitely a lot of play somewhere and my guess is the motor mounts are quite worn.

I arbitrarily used Lucas synthetic 75w-90 this time around.

Motor mounts and maybe carbon drive shaft will help? I’m guessing, the stock driveshaft has to many guibo bushings. It’s a Lexus, all the bushings are designed for comfort. Call figs, they make all replacement bushings and can help you diagnose.

Does it always make the sound or is it throttle dependent?

Its load/throttle dependent at the speeds I mentioned above.

That's odd. I replaced my spool at the same time I did the bushings, so I expected change, but only found a very slight whine and only on neutral throttle. It's at any speed. Definitely nothing speed dependent on mine. I drive with no music/radio more often than not because I like the native sounds of the car, so I notice the little things very quickly.
