Default Downshift paddle not working - 08 ISF

Hi.
A particular issue with my downshift paddle. It will only engage if my steering is turn and a half into the right or left.
If not, the downshift won't occur.

I don't have the problem with the transmission shifter, here downshifts engage as normal.

Sounds like a wiring issue in the steering wheel.

Removing the steering wheel to check wiring is pretty easy, below is walkthrough.

This. Check all the wiring around the shifter. It’s an electrical connection, not a mechanical one.

More than likely it's the spiral cable assembly. It's the only moving part in the harness.

Thanks for the help. Will disassemble on the weekend to see what is going on.
