Quote: Congratulations to you too! Just curious, what made you to decide to get Hayward & Scott exhaust?
Sorry, didn't mean the hijack your thread lol. Basically in my opinion it just sounds different than the rest of the setups available and is reasonably priced compared to most setups. Joe-Z and the similar Xforce setup just sound so tame to me to justify an upgrade. I rode in a F with the Borla setup and wasn't a fan. Novel is ungodly expensive. The Meisterschaft setup is expensive as just a rear section and is even more expensive if you add the $2000 "section 1 pipe". Same goes with the HKS setup being a rear section only. GReddy is expensive. The list goes on.

The only other setup I considered was the ISS Forged setup DES or QES. I rode in a car with the DES and liked it. I like the fact that it has real tips. I know the same goes for the newer quad tip Joe-Z but like I said it's just too tame for me.

The Hayward & Scott setup just ticked all the right boxes.

No worries there, you were the only one I found on&offline went with Hayward & Scott so I was curious.

Do most people go with 2 aftermarket cats with the Header/Exhaust package?

I don’t think there are many running cars that have headers. Most are cat less?

I have cats welded into my Borla. To smelly & raspy without.

You sure about the raspy? I have RR intake, tune, PPE headers and a Borla exhaust and have zero rasp. The smell was really strong and turned out to be a leaking gasket on my passenger side (had black soot all over the heat shield next to it) replaced it and got rid of the majority of it. Still smells though but I don’t mind it lol.

I have no cats and the RR tune fixes the check engine light and you can still pass inspection when connected to a scanner for codes.

Think he meant to ask whether most people choose to go with 2 aftermarket cats or not once they get header/tune package.

I'm FBO with tune on Joe Z exhaust. I debated on high flow cats but the smell doesn't really bother me. Love it though.

I bought my Borla used, the 1st owner had cats welded in. A buddy of mine has an LS 400 with straight pipes, it sounded raspy and the exhaust smelled horrible to me, so I'm basing it on that.

Thats with straight pipes though. Mine is amazing! Loud when you rip on it and dead silent when cruising at highway speed. Best of both worlds.

When people get this package (or any new headers), where exactly do they normally weld in the hi-flow cats on the exhaust to lower the exhaust smell? Directly after headers? Mid-pipe somewhere? Closer to the mufflers?

On the exhaust piping as close to the engine as possible, where there is room of course.

I welded mine in after the secondaries because the tune eliminates the CEL and there was no need to move the O2 bung in my situation so I welded after the bung where there was plenty of room.

The GESI cats eliminated 95+% of the smell and I lost no power
