I changed the oil recently and the mechanic added oil until it was half in between min and max with the engine freshly stopped.
This morning I checked the oil level after night and it was a few centimeters above max line. After I drove to work and checked the level with the engine freshly stopped it was in between min and max again.
My question is: when I should check the level of oil, and if the current oil level it's bad for the engine. '10 ISF.
Sorry if the answer is already in some threads, I tried searching but the first page of results was unrelated.
Check it in the morning before starting it that way all the oil officially drained into the pan. If you were driving the car I would wait at least 15 minutes. I personally always check after I let the car sit over night and was parked on perfectly leveled ground. Some roads crown bad so if your parked on the side of a road like that it could give you inaccurate measurements.
Just check it like isfpower said these cars are very susceptible to give a false reading if not on level ground, and half an inch over isn't to bad cheers
Thanks for the replies!
After 5 minutes after shutting off the engine the level looks in between the dots.
I saw many responses where the oil would be checked after the night, and for me after the night the oil level was significantly higher (2-3 cm over max) but could be also because of a very small hill.
