8 years on my ISF I agree.

I'm in NOVA. Quad exhaust retarded? Stick to BMWs.

I must have a performance car to drive everyday so I am looking at Lexus and the IS-F is their horsepower car. What years are the best? Common problems? I drove a modified 2010 and it was fun.

The ISF is pretty bullet proof. I've had mine since 2013 and nothing ever went wrong with it. You won't be spending 4-5K a year in maintenance (almost fell off my chair when I read that), heck you won't spend $1,000 most likely. The only things you'd need are tires, brake pads and oil changes. Major service is another story.

I always tease those E46's at stop lights. None of them stepped up to the challenge. Even the E92's think twice.

Good luck with the search, I feel you will be pretty satisfied with the reliability.

And as my old friend and Toyota Master Mechanic used to say: "BMW = Break My Wallet"

HA HA,Break My Wallet never heard that one, but BMW can be a very nice car just don't double the boost and you have a very fast car standard, just enjoy what you have got .

Or Bring More Wallets.

Either way, you will depart from your money.

Watch for
1. Valley plate leak
2. Intake box knock when turning it off
3. Recalls
4.belt slip noise at redline
5 transmission flare when cold
6. Inter tire wear in the front
7 melting dash and door panels
8. Water pump failures
9. Cracked headers
10 mystery valve noise

Traded my 2010 ISF for a 2018 ZL1 after getting tried of the many small issues and no warranty . Heads up warranty work at Lexus after original factory warranty requires a part to break not make noise . Kind of frustrating . All in all the car is solid and robust if you bother to track it. Most here don't . Many happy miles to you man .

This is *highly* dependent on your local dealer. Mine is great, will look at or install anything I ask. They have even offered to preemptively replace certain parts that have known to fail by working it out with corporate. I know someone that drives from 1.5hrs away to here for service because its so much cheaper. He's on here so he may chime in on how awesome the guys here are

^^^I never seem to find those dealers. Our local Lexus dealer even did away with the “barista” etc and now has a fridge and cookies, I think. Seems like every business is run on a razors edge of profit these days. Kind of sad. Your friendly dealer will probably be out of business for their troubles.

Nah the F cars just get special treatment here. My service adviser had one and sold it for a Camaro SS. Every time I talk to him he talks about he wants to get back in an ISF. He may also be known to come to meets and track days.
