Replacement Rear Bumper Cover - OEM vs. Aftermarket
A damn tire wall at the Summit Point Motorsports park decided to reach out & tear off my rear bumper cover without any provocation whatsoever!!
Too many of the attachment tabs are broken to try & re-use it, so I need to replace it.
Anyone have experience with aftermarket plastic parts like this? I gotta pay for repairs out of my pocket, so I'm looking for ways to cut costs..
As long as fit & quality are on par with OEM, I'm fine with an aftermarket replacement, which would cost ~50% less.. As long as we're on the subject, anyone know of a wrecked IS-F with the rear bumper intact??? Thanks in advance..

I wouldn't do it. You should be able to pick up a new OEM cover for about $350 or so, just have a dealership peice match one of the online parts vendors. The part retails for about $450.

I bought a new front bumper because mine was roughed up. I got the body shop to give me a good deal because they were making money on the paint and install anyways. It was to much of a hassle to order and pick up from a dealership then deliver to the shop, the $150 savings wasn't worth it.

Our cars are older now. If you work with a reasonable body shop, they'll be able to "price match" or get close to the price of a reconditioned or aftermarket bumper cover for an OEM.

Ouch Mike, got that on video?

Disaster strikes @18:20 If you watch some of the earlier laps, I've been getting comfortable running with all the traction control turned off & exploring the limits of the car. However, my lead foot got the best of me that time.. In my second session, I did a complete 360 coming out of turn 1 & ended up in the grass!!
