Default ISF Starter Heat Shield question

Are people trimming there Starter heatshield to make it fit? Since it's almost impossible to tighten header bolts down.

I couldn't tight my header bolts so I completely removed it.

What headers are you installing? I've never had an issue with PPE headers but I did install a set of Sikky headers about 4 years ago that required removing the starter heat shield as well as correcting a bunch of other fittment issues. Supposedly they corrected the problems since but I have not use them again to verify.

There PPE. I couldn't seem to reach the bolts by the Starter so I completely removed it. But now I'm wondering if I should attempt to put it back on

IMO, you should use the shield. Heat radiating from the header will fry your starter. There are also heat wraps you can use.

Thats the rough part, when you tigthening that area, but i was able to put it back. The problem i encoutered is i broke the positive connector cover of the starter. Mine has a wrap too.

Himmm, I've installed a good share of PPE headers on ISFs and I've never had to touch anything related to the starter in order to complete the install.

Yeah I guess I was suppose to bend it not remove it. You guys forget tho when the header is wrapped your limited with space and angles was basically my problem.

sorry for bringing this back from the dead. getting ready to do PPE headers this weekend. im replacing the starter since im going to be in there [NOT TO MENTION 129K ON ODO] and the mounts. So the stock heat shield should be reusable and suffice with the fact that my headers are coated im assuming?

Don't have to remove the starter heat shield. Just leave it on and bend it in place. It will work fine
