Default How to fix front fender rubbing in reverse at full lock with 255/35/19 tires.

I upsized a while back when I went to the HRE wheels. Like most who have ventured beyond the more popular 245/35/19 in front I had the front fender rubbing at full lock in reverse. I have fixed this issue before but apparently there was some flex and change on position because I have had no rubbing for 2 sets of Yokohama ADO8Rs.

First of all the rubbing is coming from the front right fender. Inside the fender the liner on the right side you will find some slits in the liner. They look like louvers on a race car. And like them they are designed to relieve the pressure theta builds up inside the fender at very high speeds. When the car is in reverse and at full lock the edge of the tire ( where the sidewall meets the the tread ) just barely grabs at the end of louvre.
To modify the fender liner all I did was take a $40 heat gun heat up the louvers and then used the end of the flash light I was using to simply depress the section that was heated. To find the location the best way is to simply turn the wheel to full lock to the right and then use a light to look for a spot or area of the liner that is dark black. With mine it's was the bottom 3 on the right side where the slits meet solid part of the liner. With the gun at max temp and low fan speed it takes maybe 15 sec to visibly see the plastic start to bend . As it cools just use the end of a flash light, hammer, or large screw driver to depress the are . Once it depresses you want to make sure to hold there for a good 45 seconds to let the plastic cool and harden in your new shape.

BOOM!! Your F no longer will make that horrible noise.

Hope this helps you guys. It was really simple and won't make this noise

Thanks for the info! Mine is on the drivers side on reverse when full lock, kinda embarrassing because I always park in reverse lol but now it'll be fixed! Thanks again

Intersting, I am on RCF wheels (255/35/19 PSS) and have never noticed this, am I oblivious? Or does the offset cover it? I know my clearance is ridiculously close but have never heard anything

^^^^^No you're not. I'm also on RCF wheels with 255/35/19 up front and 295/30/19 in the rear (Bridgestone S-04). The front rim lip comes to within a whisker of the A-Arm, but there is no rubbing in front.

AD08's. I love these tires! I'm still running my original set and expected them to be gone long ago but they're going on 10k miles now. They're wearing way better than I expected.
