Default 08 - onwards GS460 LSD Diff into ISF

So, apparently, this is a straight swap, no stuffing around, easy bolt in..?!?!

I spoke to a reputable shop who has done a few. Its almost an identical diff apparently, just for a different car, and its LSD! What the hell?!

Has anyone here done this and can confirm?

They are different part numbers but with the same ratio etc:

http://jp-carparts.com/lexus/part_de...1&part=2273187

Very intrigued..

Cool!
Just to note the fd ratios:
gs350=3.727
gs460=2.937 (SAME AS ISF)
gs450h=3.769

Seems that only AWD models have true LSDs. Not sure about the implications of that.

Why waste your time? Just buy the OS Giken TCD. It is head and shoulders better than any Torsen especially when the front springs are as soft at they are.

Well that would be the best solution, but i dont track the car, but am fed up with single spinning in the wet.

After a OEM type switch, cheap. The car is worth $40k, maybe, im not dropping close to $4k on the diff for a bit of fun in the wet! But yes, again, i know that the Giken is fantastic, just cant justify it.

lobuxracer, you definitely had some seat time for the Os giken tcd. Is it a direct fit into our 08 differential? Also, how big of an improvement is it compared to the torsen lsd from 2010 and up?

Use a condom then. I don't like condoms. Kill the feel. But it will be better than an open diff.

Hahahahahaaha! Thats epic!

Is the Giken like barebacking a super model then?

Direct fit. FIGS has a blog entry on this.

I am ready to trash the Torsen in my Supra because the Giken is so much better. Seriously.

Indeed. I compare it directly to the GS F's TVD. The Giken is like, well, top shelf paid for.

^^
You'll find plenty of first-hand feedback on this thread. One of our CL members, Ken Henderson, recently swapped out his Torsen LSD from his 2010 IS-F to an OS Giken TCD and his initial impressions can be found on post #38.

BTW, it's fun reading how much of an OS Giken advocate lobuxracer has become since he installed his TCD unit on his IS-F. There's no going back to lesser differentials once you've experienced what the OS Giken TCD is capable of!

Can anyone confirm if the 2013-2016 LS460 rear carrier contains a torsen diff or an open diff?

EDIT: looks like the sport package contains a torsen diff and the base model does not. So from what I understand, the OEM carriers that contain a torsen diff that may bolt in would be:
10+ IS-F
13+ LS460 with sport package
15+ RCF w/o TVD

I'll just drop my rear end assy off to Lance next time I swing thru ATL so he can install the OS and I'll pick it back up after my conference!

The LS460 F-Sport model diff is exactly the same as the ISF +10. The part numbers for both are identical.
