Hey everyone, I finally had a headlight go out on my '08. I dropped by AutoZone on my way home to get some help finding one, and the guy showed me that the OEM bulb is $179! Is there anywhere else to get the OEM bulb for much cheaper??
Also, is replacing the bulb on our headlight easy? I peaked under the hood, and it does not appear to be the most accessible area. I can change my wife's Jetta in 30 seconds b/c everything is easily accessible. Our cars, not so much. TIA
The owners manual has instructions I believe to change the bulb, but basically remove the front engine cover, pop open the bulb cover by sliding the metal bar over, twist the metal ballast connector counter-clockwise and then undo the retaining clips and you should be able to pull the bulb out. There is a tab on the bulb that lines up with the headlight. Install in reverse of removal.

I'm assuming you're talking about the plastic cover held in by the clips, yes?

Yes, the one closest to the front grill. There should be about 8 push in clips holding it on. Press in the center and then wiggle them out (otherwise they go flying when you pull on the cover!).

oh i'm familiar with those little bastards, LOL. Just wanted to make sure that's what you were referencing. Thanks for the help!
If you want your bulbs to match, you should get two new ones. Amazon is a good source, you can get two bulbs for the price of one bulb at Autozone. If one bulb is out, the other will follow eventually.
Has anyone replaced the entire unit with a higher watts kit? Wondering if there is a significant difference and if there are any issues with things melting.
