Default Your thoughts? 435i GC or ISF

Hi,

Been car searching for a while and looking around and wanted to get a little input. Would you guys even consider getting/comparing a 435i GC to an 2011+ ISF. Used pricing is around the same. Pros and cons? Thanks!!!

big difference in technology between the car (4 series being newer).

I'd rather have a V8, but that's just me.

yes the technology and "newer" interior is what intrigues me more.

Looks like you answered your question there. Just consider the costs of ownership too. Lexus is generally lower than BMW.

The only BMW I'd consider over our car would have a leading "M" in the title.
Outside of that there is no comparison.

Although my BMW is rather old (E46) after 60-75k things start to go. Gaskets, bushings, modules, etc.

I've got a 2014 M6 with 23k miles that just went out of warranty and i'm terrified. I would have complete and utter confidence in the ISF by comparison.

Damn, only 23k miles and you're already out of warranty? I'm sorry you feel terrified. Car ownership shouldn't feel like that. I understand performance vehicles require attention, but beyond the basics. Such as brake pads, rotors, tires, oil changes, and keeping it fueled. That's where I draw the line, also your occasional big service jobs. Which is understandable, but worrying about when something is going to go and how much is going to cost. No Thank you!

Op my wife swears by the Germans, she wanted me in a Bimmer, I test drove it and all but I respectfully declined. Mostly for the reasons above. I naturally moved on to Lexus as I grew up around Japanese cars. After owning a corolla for over 10 years. I gave it to my little bro and after 6 years. He bought his own car and I got the Corolla back now.

The ISF is a very rare vehicle. Still to this day not many folks and enthusiasts know about it, especially in stock form. Ever since I installed my exhaust, I get approached and asked about it all the time. The advantage with the Germans is they have a huge market when it comes to performance. There's no denying they been at it for a long time. I'm sure with just a tune and a few mods you'll surpass the stock numbers of that 435i gc. This all depends on your goals.

Im afraid I'm going to have to agree with one of our memebers who posted above. If I HAD to choose a bimmer, it would have to have an M badge as well. I have a 2011 F, it has never taken me beyond the basic necessities of routine maintenance. If anything it has given me the liberty to shop around for the best oil, filter, brake pads, and much more parts available in the market. I know my wife gets jealous because even though she doesn't tell me. I know she see's why I upgraded from an is250,350, and now F. She loves it too, and her 2013 MB GLK350 is very nice too. So far it just got to 40k miles bought new, and it has only left her stranded once so far! It simply shut off at a red light and wouldn't turn on. Happy shopping and good luck with your decision!

435i GC vs IS-F seems weird to me.

I would be looking at an M3 vs IS-F.

Tuned up 435 going to be as capable (or more) compared to both.

Currently have a 2012 ISF / 2016 M3 F80

Both are great cars, but I would go with the IS F vs. a 435i.

My IS F has been reliable and fun to drive since day 1. Do routine maintenance and its good to go. The V8 is something you cannot replace with a turbo. If you like the technology of the newer 435i, by all means. IS F feels is outdated if the 435i you're getting has the active pre collision system + driver assist package. However, those technology are all things I can live without. If newer tech is what you're looking for, get the BMW.

At the end of the day, test drive both and find the right car for YOU.
