Test fit of rear 2011 rim on front
Finally got around to test fitting a 2011 rear rim on the front of a 2011 F.
So, I must say, this thing damn near fits and looks really good! The rim comes extremely close to the suspension arm, might barely touch. I placed a knife blade between the lip of the rim and the arm and rotated the wheel. For the vast majority of the rotation, the rim spun without pressing the blade to the arm. In a few areas it would push the blade to the arm and when I removed the wheel it looked like it had just barely left a mark on the arm where it was contacting it (is it normal that the rim would rotate a bit off axis like this? I didn't fully tighten the lugs, so maybe.)
I was on a jack, so I couldn't rotate the tire with the steering wheel to check for other clearances.
I'll now let the experts tell me what this means. It would seem that just a 5mm spacer would make this work and with the 9" rims, there would be a world of options for front tires now.
Oh, and since I just bought new tires and will likely never complete this project, I have a 2011 rear rim for sale .

Based on my experience, that is what I predicated in my response to your thread here:

Yes, a 5mm spacer should work. Also I would tighten all the lugs to make sure the rim you just bought is not warped.

Will do when I swap out my lugs to black McGards.
So, if it clears the suspension arm when jacked up (assuming the use of a spacer to ensure it is clearing) can it be assumed that it will clear under real world loads, geometries? The arm bends away from the wheel up top, so the tire shouldn't be an issue clearing.

^^^^As I said above, you should check to see if the wheel is warped or not. For roundness, I guess you could jury rig up three pieces of wood to look something like a big caliper and run it around the wheel to check for roundness. But I wouldn't except that to be a problem.

I did a test fitment of a 2008 rear wheel on the front with a 10mm spacer a while back. Details are in the thread above.

I think if I ended up doing this someday, I would use a 5mm spacer and 255/35 tires up front to keep the stock sidewall height.
