It is pretty hard to see, but all of my windows (windshield included) are tinted so that may be a factor. I don't worry about hiding it at most places, only shady areas which I don't often leave the F anywhere near.

That being said I'd definitely throw it in the center console or something if I was being pulled over and had the time / wouldn't be seen doing so. It's not illegal but it's the kind of thing that they think you regularly speed if you have it, so they may not be as lenient or give you a warning (All depends on the LEO, this has just been my take-away from talking with police friends/family)

I had an officer give me some crap about it once (jokingly), long story short my friend and I were aligning our headlights in a parking lot at night (you need dark, and a flat wall far away). Dumbass security called the cops, said we were street racing. Cops ran our info, were super cool, but one of them goes
"hey what's that on your mirror?"
Me: "a radar detector"
Cop: "Why do you need that? You don't speed!" *stares in cop*

lols were had.

I've also taken out the sun visor retainer and mounted it there on my WRX wagon, because the retainer was broken anways. Only way they'd see it is if they leaned in to give me a kiss on the cheek

 

Love the in the mirror setup. Would be hard to do with other radars detectors. They do make mirrors with them but like you guys said they ear very pricey.

I take my radar back and forth from car to car. F is my weekend warrior.
