Default Can someone tell me what this is????

I popped the hood today just to do a visual inspection. I came across a wire that was not attached to anything but appeared that it should be. I found a bolt and a bolt hole nearby that it appeared to belong. First off, I am wondering what this is for> and secondly, would there be any reason that the previous owner disconnected this?

Thanks for the help!

Thats for your ground. That's supposed to be bolted down to metal.

I would check other things like engine oil, leaky coolant (water pump area or resevoir, check levels), check brake fluids, air filter etc....

That wire looks normal.

I figured as much. Im not sure how the bolt backed itself out. I went ahead and reconnected it with another bolt that fit. I just wanted to check with someone else to see if there would be any reason for someone to have disconnected it.

Thanks for the reply.

It backed out because someone replaced the OEM part with a piece of junk. There are no flathead fasteners on any Japanese car. Ever. This should be a 6x1 10mm head bolt. See attached picture.

Maybe the dealer didn't connect it back when a recall was done on it. Happens all the time.

I used the piece of junk flathead because it's all I had at the time that fit. I have since replaced it with the proper bolt.

I wasn't having any problems of any sort. I just wondered why or if there might be a reason that it was intentionally left disconnected by the previous owner. I couldn't think of any reason myself. Thanks for the input.

That bolt should be cheap from the dealer on a side note on my previous car while installing a cold air intake that required relocating the battery, I had problems upon starting the car and it wouldnt fire up, I backlogged for hours thinking what I did wrong and it was switching the ground bolt with another bolt during the start-up, this install really woke me up on issues that can arise due to using a wrong ground bolt or anything related to grounding at all..just fyi...you do learn a lot from your mistakes...

It was disconnected and you were not seeing any issues? Wow. That's a BIG ground connection. I am really surprised you had no issues with it being disconnected.

If it had the fuel pressure sensor recall done, this would likely have been disconnected.
