Passport Escort 9500ix in 2012 IS-F

You need to mount it higher, radio waves travel upwards, you will get better reception this way.
You can hardwire it with the Escort direct wire.
If you are mounting it low in order to detect laser threats, don't bother, won't help you but scream LASER until the blue/red lights come on.

Thanks for the tip. I just bought the detector a few days ago. I'm waiting for my kit to arrive to mount under the rear view mirror. I was thinking about mounting this to the visor, but it seems folks have trouble there.

eBay has a few mounting solutions that work well, I would go that route.
Looks like a K-band radar speed sign.................this is an older band....they run at the 24 GHz range.....longer the range, the further the signal will travel.
You'll find things will get a lot more interesting with the famous Ka-band...............the CHP uses the Stalker units, which work at 34.7 GHz................take a drive on Highway 5 between 580 and Fresno, you'll see how far you can pick them up. 7 miles is my record (with the Valentine 1)
Here's my setup (my old garage back in CA..........ahhhhhhha the memories.....)

By the way, if your local PD/Sheriff does not use K-band, you may as well disable it. Drive around a bit and see what you pickup. Most of the municipalities switched off to new equipment, and most of that runs on Ka-band, which is good since no other devices (alarms, door openers operate on that)
Make sure to disable X-band, that's not used except in some parts of Oregon and NJ.
With K and X disabled, you'll get almost zero false alerts.
35.5 GHz (Ka) is where things get really nasty...........CHP runs 34.7 GHz (Stalker Radar allocated band).....

I agree I've had K-band and X-band disabled on my Bel RX-65 for years and get only Ka-band alerts and the occasional laser at night if it scatters on the car in front of you (ask me how I know lol).

Incidence of false alerts w/ this unit has been pretty low. It helps that the unit (with GPS) can be programmed to ignore the false alarms on my commute. I pair this with Waze, which seems to mitigate the risk of a ticket (to a reasonable extent).

I'vie been running the Escort max and love it.
Look into the blendmount: https://www.escortradar.com/escort-blendmounts/
and the hardwire cord - easy as you just slide the pin end into the wire connector above the sunglass pocket:

This was just the thread i was looking for. I was just about to search about what detectors you guys were using. I have been using the V1 since 2006 and i have had some good luck with it but i have also been busted with it but im sure CHP was using laser at the point i got popped.
I have been having a serious false alarm and bogey count on my V1 on my daily commute to the point it is driving me crazy. I messed with some settings on my way home and hopefully it changes. I found a youtube website that compares the passport and the V1. Still deciding if i should get a updated V1 or try something new with the passport. What is the majority of detectors you guys are using?
I also have my V1 mounted under the rear view mirror and its legit.. i hate the suction cups..
