Default Whats this about single stage paint

Well I started doing a paint correction on my obsidian black ISF. While detailing it I started noticing that it has paint transfer on the da pads.

Come to find out through searching the boards its a single stage???!!!!

Is this true? How the heck does lexus have 65k cars rolling out in single stage

Its a two stage paint, the color is probably gunk and dirt coming off the car.

Unless your car was repainted?

Does your car sit through the winter? Just curious why you would do a paint correction right before winter starts

I researched this all night and I'm still finding that it is infuse a single stage paint

The car was never repainted anywhere. I measured the whole car with a paint depth indicator before I bought it.

Car sits all winter

Get a microfiber towel, some polish and see if any color comes off on it...if it does it is single stage.

Unless....my car was repainted at one time (non of the history i have on the car says it has been though)

Ill give it a go but the paint transfer on the da pad was a indicator of that.

I should mention the entire car was washed and used a clay bar on the entire vehicle.

I hope they did not use single stage paint on your car, hopefully it is just overspray. And no unless something has changed im not sure of any vendor or vehicle manufacturer utilizing single stage paint currently. As and extreme hobby and from being consulted to correct many cars from Dodge, Bentley, Ferrari, Lexus, Mrecedes, etc, unless doing a much older car I have not ran into single stage paints. Check out some projects on my FB under Shaun Runcie, or IG at #international_auto_studios, and PM me if you have any questions. Also note on black I recommend ATLEAST 3 stages during your correction to get a proper distinction of image and appropriate clarity..Dont cut corners, you can possibly do more damage doing to few stages..

That's strange I've owned my F since it was new in 2011. In five years of detailing my USB F that has never occurred either by hand or using DA when detailing.

Guys do some googling I'm pretty sure it single stage i could be wrong and I hope I am.

My process has many steps i did the deck lid and it turned out perfect scratch free.I did get paint transfer i did a test spot on the hood and same thing happen. The care is surgically clean so its not dirt. Iv been detailing for a while, not sounding like a *** I appreciate the advice. This is the first time out of the hundreds iv don't that had paint transfer. It scared me at first but if this paint is intact single stage ill be able to get that tiny scratch out of my hood with some 2500 grit

Ill post pictures of the pad later tonight

Weapon F,

This would only be on the black paint. They couldn't use single stage on metallic or pearl it would look like crap

My front bumper had a clear bra on it and when I pulled it off, you could see where they cut it with a razor.

A year later the clear coat started flaking off of it in that spot...

My car is a daily driver, so I'm not too worried it...but this would be another sign we have two stage paint.

After you get your car pristine make sure to seal it with some Opti Coat + or whatever they are calling it now, I did mine with Opti Coat 2.0 back in like 2011 and the car still looks great.
