Default good deal or too risky?

Hello,

I'm looking for a 2011+ isf.
I found a 2012 nebula with 36k miles offered by a Lexus dealership as one of their certified cars asking price of 42k.

Seems like a good deal except that there are TWO accidents on the carfax.
I find it odd that they are certifying such a car, but maybe that means there really is nothing to worry about.

What do you guys think?

Ha 2 accidents and they are trying to sell it at an excellent price. Either low ball them due to the accidents on the car or move on. I found my mint 2012 with 17k miles for $43k

If you do decide to move forward with it make sure you have a body guy or an ASE Certified Master Mechanic do a PPI on it.

Ask them to do a TRUEFRAME inspection on the car, if they don't do it then just walk away.

I'd pass.
You'll take a big hit when you go to sell or trade.
Those two accidents would be on my mind.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

I found another one basically the same MY, mileage, and price.
It seems to have been brought into the dealer for maintenance every 5000 miles or so, but the lexus dealer said that tires have to be replaced and that the aftermarket brake pads have scored the rotors, so it would cost 4000 to replace brakes and tires, which would make the car 42k after that work, our I could take it as is for 38. This one also seems weird. Why would they have allowed this situation to happen? Why wouldn't they have already fixed it before trying to sell it?

Go to cars.com there are tons of options. There is a white one in Davenport Iowa at Quad Cities Lexus dealer, 2011 with 37k miles, clean carfax and they are willing to take $38,200 for it. Its a certified pre owned. The only problem is that they wont take my trade in at a fair price (offering $4k under what I want). So I might have so settle down for another clean one but 55.3k miles in Missouri that will take my trade and I will pay $37,900.

New tires for all four corners would run you ~$850 + mount/balance if you went with Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2. Brakes for all four corners should run you around $1000-1200 depending on exactly which rotors/pads you run with, plus labor. About $2K for brakes and tires if you can do the brakes yourself.

I traded my 2011 SFP to a Caddy dealer in Indiana for a CTS-V about 2 months ago. They still have my F on their lot of ur interested. It's as mint as a used car can be. Has 53k miles and no issues at all. Tires are nearly new as well as the brake pads. Interior is mint with no scuffs in the seats. They want $39,995 but I can tell u they gave me $35k in trade so u could def negotiate. They already made $$ on the V that I bought so u could get this F for $37k all day long.

Maybe it's not the best method... but I just look how long the owner kept the car after the wreck. With my previous Acura, the owner wrecked in the first 6 mos and drove for 4 more years. Seemed to me: obvious fender bender is obvious. Has always driven perfectly. What I overlooked test driving that one in the rain is ... original owner couldn't actually afford the car and so had bodywork repairs done at a "Macco" equivalent. Dealer that sold it used awesome coverall to cover up all the ****ty paint defects and shoddily repaired bumper cover. Finally I couldn't take it any more dropped $3,000 to have a new bumper and get everything repainted. MAN WAS IT BEAUTIFUL AFTER THOUGH!

Thanks for the great feedback.

Now, I am going back and forth and getting an ISF now or being a little more patient and getting an RCF next year.

Have you driven both cars already?

Do you need a 4 door?
