My dad's LS460 (AWD) makes me wish it had about 600lbs less weight and about 60 more HP...but the interior is a nice place to be for sure. Hell, the doors shut themselves tighter to limit wind noise!

F interior is just a reskinned ISx50 interior of that age, what did y'all expect? Still a nice place to be, but much nicer in 2006 than in 2015. As you said, the $20K got us the bespoke V8 and trans.

My trunk release button is completely hashed. I need to order a new one, but they're pretty pricey. The part number is indeed 84945-53010, and they are common to IS and HS Lexus vehicles, but they're still at least $55 from online retailers.

Default Covered

Guys,

I have a 2008 with an extended warranty and I took my car in last month for some minor stuff and while there I asked the SA for a replacement cost for the trunk button/mechanism and I also asked to see if it would be covered under warranty and he said he did not believe so. Later that day, he called me to tell me it was fully covered. This is the same dealer who wanted me to pay the damage (at retail cost) they caused during my EFP recall so they are not big on just giving stuff away for the sole purpose of customer satisfaction.

Just a thought for those of you who still may be under warranty.

Took about one minute to remove it.

Water has been getting through the holes in the rubber and actually started to rust one of the bolts on the inside.

Is it just the two bolts holding it in? Unscrew and wiggle out?

Just did mine tonight. Got the trunk button on eBay for $43 shipped! It’s been bugging me for a while but suddenly got myself to do it. I’m not taking her out when it’s 100+ degrees anymore

got the install instructions from YouTube:

Even if you don't use it, it melts and drips on the paint.

Replaced trunk switch last weekend, now reveling in goop-free trunk access...

A couple hopefully helpful notes for those considering DIY:
1) Lam Le's how-to video linked above is helpful, but my car's emergency trunk release handle has a large plastic housing that I could not disconnect from the liner. I could disconnect the glow-in-the-dark handle from the cable just fine, but not the housing from the liner. The housing is pinned or clipped to the trunk door, and without removing it I could not remove the liner as shown in the video. Fortunately, the liner is flexible and can be bent back enough the access the 2x 10mm nuts and remove/replace the switch.
2) As discussed in this sister thread, there are three velcro-type strips on the lower lip of the trunk. These are 3M's Dual-Lock, sewn and epoxied on the liner side and taped on the trunk side. The trunk-side tape's adhesive weakens and flows with age, so I replaced mine with new patches trimmed to match their mates on the liner.

3M Dual-lock products are readily available under the "Scotch Extreme Fastener" name at hardware stores:

Did mine today, wanted to give a bit of advice with removing the carpet plug things.

Medium sized zip tie. Pass it through the plug and then pull it out (I used lineman pliers). Zero damage to the plug and its painless.
