Default Oem gutted mid pipe vs custom midpipe question

Im now running with sikky catless headers+stock gutted midpipe+hks ssm exhaust....
When i ordered the hks ssm,the hks midpipe was discontinued already and have no chance of purchasing it anywhere,so my tuner suggested fabricating 1 similar to the hks midpipe diameter which is 2x 2.5" merging into 3" pipe that will connect to the hks exhaust....he quoted the cost with labor will be about $400....my question is, will the midpipe give me a noticeable difference compared to the gutted stock midpipe?

TIA

Why would he suggest an X-pipe, right before a Y-pipe....

What is "gutted" in your stock mid pipe? Cats and resonator? if you gut all three then it'll basically sound the same as the one your friend is offering to make.

Oops, mis-read.

Save the money and just cut the res/cat and replace them with pipes.. Should cost less than $100.
