What sensors? There are no sensors on the IS F, only a metal tab that starts to squeal to let you know you are at minimum recommended pad thickness. You can even run with minimum thickness and not be worried if you like. I have worn pads to the backing plate at the track and stopping power was consistent down to the last few microns.

And no, the rotors were not damaged. I put my street pads back in the calipers and drove home 3 hours to Atlanta.

since we're on the subject. i hear some squealing, or maybe it's grinding. not sure, but i'll check out the brakes once i change the suspension next weekend. stopping on a dime isn't an issue though.

It would have been if I had discovered this on the last session of the day, but it was at the end of the third of four...

Besides, what's the worst that will happen? Ruin a rotor or two. Sucks, but as relatively cheap as OEM rotors are, not really a big deal. Not like killing any of the two piece options we have.

Yes. Fronts are 30mm new (rears are 28mm).

27.2mm in the rear has only used 40% of it's service life. As little as these cars use the rear brakes, you could probably go another 50k without any worries at all.

No need to care much about pads, they will talk to you when it is time to change them long before they are at minimum thickness.
what do you mean by talk to you? Mine are currently at 4 mm

The pad's backing plate will usually contact the outer rim of the brake (where it isn't worn) and squeal like metal on metal (because it is) and let you know it's time to change the pads even if you don't have wear indicators installed. AMHIK.

moo

I wore out all my slots on Coleman rotors with hawk comp pads in 300 miles aggressive street driving. Same with Wilwood Polymatrix D

Coleman? Who are they and do they make rotors for an IS F?

The only Coleman I know makes camping gear. I wouldn't expect them to know much about brake rotors.

Should have asked my dad. He knows all about the circle track stuff, and they look like they do a lot with circle track racers.
