I noticed it just the other day...does our car shift a little faster when using the gear shifter? Or is it just me? This is on driving at WOT

 

I was thinking about this a few weeks back after watching someone racing in an ISF and shifting from the gear shifter.

 

I was wondering the same thing the other day. It seems that the throw is shorter with the shifter than with the paddle shifters .

The time is probably the same.....

 

i consistently shift using the shiftier and not the paddles. although i think its because i cant' get used to the paddles. it feels unnatural to me having my hands glued to the wheel. its seems faster to me so i'll keep driving that way till we have concrete evidence stating otherwise

 

From a dead stop I notice a harder pull from 1st to 2nd...I can even hear a slight thrust in the change of gear, as opposed to shifting through the paddles. On the highway and especially in triple digits the paddles to me are hands down safer.

 

Feels the same to me...i like using the paddle shifter better though, specially at the track.

 

I feel the opposite. The gear shift feels stiff and sluggish compared to the paddle shifters.

 

I think they both connect to the same endpoint...probably all in your heads.

Try hitting both the + and - shifters at the same time and BE PREPARED TO WATCH WHAT HAPPENS!!!!

 

I'll try this on the way home today, BUT paddles are the best. Using the shifter feels like its 2001 again. LOL

 

The shifter sure comes in handy when the wheel is upside down

 

Don't shift in corners...you will upset the car.

Unless you are talking about doing some hooligan action!

 

Thats what the rev matching is for. Maintain balance . I usually drop gear as I brake but nice to have the rev match

 

probably the same, dont think wed be able to tell the difference between .000001 seconds. But gear level > paddles all day!
