Default Newbie looking for help

Hi, I have recently been looking into getting an ISF and one came up locally. Everything I have read says they are pretty solid. Only real issues I have seen are some have a leaking waterpump and the suspension on the 2010s and older is harsh. Is there anything else I should he looking for when test driving/inspecting. I am looking at a 2010 model with 70K miles. The dealer is asking 34K. Here is the link http://bmw.checkeredflag.com/used-inventory/index.htm?reset=InventoryListing&start=0&make=Lexus

I plan on test driving it tomorrow and would appreciate any feedback you can provide. In the past I have owned 2 S2000s, an Evolution, FD RX7, 300zx TT, so cars in general aren't an issue.

I also believe JDMV8 started a thread that showed all the differences between the year models...that should help.

MY2010 with 70k is a bit on the high side, mileage wise. If you can knock off a few g's from that price, I think it would be a pretty fair purchase. When looking over the vehicle, I'd look for tire wear, warranty work on the car, maintenance work, any electrical issues, and even alignment. There isn't much to tell from the pictures on the site other than no pre-dealer drilled holes, which I prefer.

Also, it will be out of warranty, so I'd inquire about a quote on extended warranty, if you're one for peace of mind. Really there aren't any issues with this car- mechanical, electrical, or otherwise. It was built well and purposeful. You'll love the duality of its driving. A nice luxury cruiser, but once you get her above 3k RPM, she will sing.

Best of luck to you!

So the trip started slowly (Dead Battery). Once it got charged, it fired right up. Car had very good maintenance record, very new RE050s, no pink slime around the waterpump, shifted very smoothly. The 2 issues I took note of, the brake pads were low (still grabbed hard, rotors were good) and the passenger HID light was out...they will fix those things and offer a 12 month/12K Warranty on all major systems (to include water pump). The car did ride rough, how long does the stock suspension last? But it may just be. Ormal for the car. They had already taken 5K off the car (Originally listed 38990) so they were not negotiating. Based on this info should I be worried about the electrical system at all? The car is very clean, no dings, scratches anything cosmetically wrong...

It's always hard to advise whether a car is a good deal over the internet or not. If it is indeed clean and the few minor issues will be fixed, it seems like a good deal. You can change the suspension later if it bothers you. The 2010 has the Torsen LSD which is a plus. 70k is a good amount of mileage, but this is a Lexus, not a BMW. I'd take a 100k ISF over a 65k M3.

Let's put it this way, unless there is something glaringly wrong they are hiding from you (which I doubt is the case) you are definitely not getting a bad deal.
