high in-cabin temperature
#16
I'm glad to see someone bring this up. My ISF does this like crazy as did my IS350. I just assumed it was a Lexus thing as none of my other non-Lexus cars in the past exhibited this phenomenon.

Have you tried turning the temperature down all the way? Lets say you had the temp set at 80 the night before and then turned the system off. If your vent is open, you will get 80 degree air blowing through the vents even if the system is off. I always turn my temp all the way down when I pull in my driveway.

I found out about this sauna feature on our cars awhile ago while drag racing. I had a bad habit of drag racing with the a/c on. It's just something I never thought about, just like leaving the stereo on. Until, my buddy sat shotgun one day and brought it to my attention, "Hey! Kill the radio and a/c!, the a/c is killing your horsepower!"...lmfao! I was like get the F outta here! Boy, Did we start frying inside the cabin quick! Im used to it now, my 2nd gen IS250,350, and F had same issues. With the F is more intensified, especially after exhaust install. This reminds me also when rolling with the windows down. When you start cruising a little over 60mph, the wind force is just unbearable at times. Other cars I driven or sat in...100mph the wind force is more bearable. Not complaining...just an observation...lol.

My Supra shredded the bearing on the power steering pump. When the guts flew out, they hit the wire to the A/C compressor clutch and caused it to ground. This popped the fuse for the entire HVAC so it was impossible to even run the fan. The car was insufferable to drive in Sacramento. Even with the windows down, it was stupid hot inside, and it popped fuses like candy until I saw the metal shard shorting the A/C clutch to ground. Needless to say, I fixed it, but it surely made it clear to me - Toyota does not expect your HVAC to be dead. Ever. Their model for interior comfort is based on the HVAC system working with all windows up, all the time.
I sweat my butt off at Carolina Motorsports Park in 102F heat with all four windows down, but A/C turned off (HPDE rules) wearing shorts, tee shirt, helmet, and Nomex gloves. I wasn't going slow, but the interior design was clearly intended for "normal" driving, not track or anything where the A/C compressor might be intentionally off.

I think it's just a Toyota thing. My '12 F, '02 IS300 (much worse than the F) and '13 RX350 all do this. Doesn't bother me though....I usually ride with a window cracked anyhow.
