Default Not FS: But what if???

I may have a chance to buy one of the last 2014 ISF's (Black on Black)...so I need CL to help me if I decided to make this leap on what would my ISF be worth as follows:

2009 ISF (32K miles)...less than 500 miles on Mods
Brand new paint job (because I decided to...not because anything happened or was wrong)
Brand new TOMS CF aero kit
Brand New Vossen CV3 wheels and PSS tires
Black out theme (grill, windows, lights, emblems and engine cover)
Sikky headers / Joe Z Exhaust and Intake / AFE filter

I may be crazy even thinking about selling but was just wondering as I am the second owner since 25K miles and the car was a DD for about 7K miles but changed status as of this past March...it has always been garage kept at home and at work...it has never been tracked or run in the 1/4 mile...and all service has been done by the dealership. Below are current pictures and I would really be hard press to take less than $50K...am I crazy???

hate to say it but I don't think there is any chance you will get 50k for your 09. I say stay with your current ride as it looks fantastic!

Honestly, having just been in the ISF market, you would probably be around high 30's- very low 40's with your car. The mods might add a small amount to the right person, but IMO the fact it has been painted, even though not because of damage would lower the value. A lot of people don't even want to deal with aftermarket paint.

To get the most out of the car you'd probably be best off taking the easily removed parts off(catback, intake, wheels, TOMS kit, etc) and selling.

So you want to go from a modded ISF to a new stock ISF thats slower?

I get it, the newer one is more updated.. but I don't really see a reasoning on this unless the LSD, navi, steering feel, headlights + $20k means that much more than a fully modded ISF.

IMO a 2008 modded ISF > brand new late model ISF.

Hey Bret, as u know I was shopping my 2011 F to dealers on a CTS-V. My car has 40k miles and a couple of upgrades like the carbon spoiler and exhaust. I was offered $40k trade in price by 2 dealers which would be $43k with car being stock cause they could care less about my mods. I was then gonna sell my exhaust, black pearl emblems and carbon spoiler for around $2k so basically getting $45k out of my car. Ur car stock is prob worth $32-34K trade in value. I got $35k trade for my 08 but that was 1 yr ago and prices have dropped. If u were to part it out u would prob get $2500-3k for Tom's Kit, $2k for ur wheels, $1k for ur headers, $1k for ur exhaust before labor removal costs. U prob have a hook up with labor costs thru John at Lexus Tampa. Tough call but it's ur car so do what u feel is best

Trade in the car bone stock.. You might have a chance at $35K

Keep all the MODS for the MY14 you might buy.

Carmax will pay you a better price for a FULLY STOCK car...

You will make the best of your money selling Private Party... $38K

$50K is HIGHLY unlikely in any of these scenarios.

^^^^+1. If your budget allows it, go for it! There is a lot to gain with that upgrade.

You'd have to sell privately to someone willing to consider the value of your improvements (including the paint). Not impossible, but extremely unlikely!

Joe-Z has the right idea if you must, but I think your car looks great, and I'd stick with it.

Much agreed with all who have posted. Save your mods for the new F, if you end up going that route. Dealers and some buyers won't care about mods, so it shouldn't be tacked on to the pricing. Personally, if it is financially feasible, I'd hop into the MY14. To me, there's something about the car being mine and only mine. Knowing you have one of the last IS Fs is pretty humbling. Honestly, I could do without the headlights or new tachometer. The LSD is something many owners rave about in comparison to the older IS Fs, but to me that's about it. Best of luck to you and whichever direction you should choose!

doesnt sound like an economical upgrade, probably 40k to get a 2014 with a 35k trade in. Most of the upgrades the 2014 has (LSD, suspension, steering ECU, DRL headlights) can be had much cheaper using aftermarket and Sewell. Wont get the alcantara seats, gauges, and flash based navigation but is that really worth that much? Just not sure what is being accomplished moving to a 2014. Might as well wait for an RCF at that price if you dont mind 2 door to get an all new car. Or just trade for a 2011?

You guys are friggin AWESOME! And I appreicate the honesty....seriously...that is why I posted!

The posts made about putting it back to stock make tons of sense and the only thing I read that I would debate is the post about the paint job as it is a Lexus paint job and it is amazing (some on here can attest to that as they have seen it in person)...now why I am thinking about getting rid of this car??? LOL

Anyway I got excited about the opportunity to own the last year and I am really torn here as I love my 2009 and the mods I have done to it...It is a great car...just something about owning the last year has sparked my interest but my gut tells me to keep MYISF! Thanks again for everyone's honest opinion...it is duly noted!

Every possible opinion has been given already but to piggyback. You can have 10k on mods doesn't mean u will get 10 or even 8k, dealer do not care about mods In fact they prefer stock vehicle. Even if you opted to sell your mods privately you won't get the $ you already invested that's the trade of modding. IMO just keep your car paid it off if u can that would be the best investment.
