Default Heat shields

Hello all,
In researching headers for my 11' was wonder the opinions on cats.
Not comfortable not having them and wondering what your using.
Heard great things on both PPE and Sikky, but it seems that when ever issues are posted more often than not, PPE is mentioned.
Lastly, heat shields, are they necessary? I noticed that some installs remove them.

Thoughts

Thanks

Not really, do some research here, and you'll find that Sikky has more issues than PPE, especially workmanship. There has been a couple of threads recently about CELs and PPE. Those issues have been solved due to the excellent Customer Service of PPE. I know some folks on this forum were using PPE o2 conditioners because Sikky wouldn't sell them alone and the PPE ones seem to work better.

If the header is properly ceramic coated the heat shields are unnecessary.

I have Sikky headers, and I'm currently dealing with a heatshield bolt problem. The stupid thing is loose, so when I turn left or rev the engine too much, the bolt rattles against the body of the car. Annoying as $h!t. Because the fitting for headers is so tight, it will cost me about $800 in labor to have a $0.10 bolt removed. The kicker? The damn bolt isn't even needed to hold the heatshield in place!!

Oh, and since you're in Canada, here's what you can expect Sikky headers to look like after dealing with salt on the roads during winter. Yes, I'm from Texas, but my car is originally from New Jersey. If there is a proper coating available that can prevent this, I highly suggest applying it. My headers work fine by the way. They just look like crap.
