Default thermostat and water pump

when replacing the water pump does it make sense to replace the thermostat as well or is that unnecessary?

I might be due? I ordered one from Sewell last year during the holiday sales. I just pass 70,000 miles so I am sure my belt should be replaced just to stay on the safe side.

I don't recall the service interval for the serpentine belt but general rule would be if it's cracking and or fraying, replace it.

I just had them replace it because they had to take it off anyways.

I asked the service writer to just say it had coolant all over it and was compromised...
