I know many of you have Project Mu Type NS/NS400 pads and have little to no squealing. However just less than 500 km's in they are squealing excessively for me.

I have bedded them in, mechanic put the OEM shims back in with anti-squealing grease (Not the Brembo type). They squeal at low speeds with light to moderate pressure cold or hot. However seems to be doing it more when warmed up quite weirdly.

Any idea's why? I am going back to my mechanic tomorrow and getting him to pull them back out and clean everything thoroughly.

I have these pads and have zero squealing. My OEM pads were worn down and into the squeal bar so they made a lot of noise, then I swapped the Mu's in and the squealing went away (along with 3/4ths of the dusting too).

Have you checked your rotors? Are they excessively wavy or uneven?

 

I had the squealing for the first 1000 miles but it went away eventually. I also used the anti-squeal and followed their recommended bedding procedure.

 

What he said, make sure you have anti-squeal compound in between the backing plate and pad. Make sure you bed them in properly as well.

I have anti-squeal and attempted to bed them in a few times. It squeals quite badly coming to a stop and is quite annoying. Gonna get my mechanic to clean and re-grease everything today hopefully it will help.

Can you guys let me in on what you did for bedding in? I basically did a 90km/h to about 20km/h hard stomp a few times and then let the brakes cool down.

Got the pads taken out, everything cleaned and re-greased. Sanded down the pads and rotors.

Was good for 20 minutes until the squealing came back again

Now I notice that the squealing happens in stop and go traffic with moderate pressure to the brake pedal. Once you get some heat into it, there is actually minimal noise at all. Should I attempt to bed them in again?

Just get an exhaust to cover the sound . I usually have some kind of music on so the first 1000 miles wasn't really noticeable unless i had windows down.

 

LoL good idea. I guess if you say it goes away after more driving then so be it.

Yep, using shims from the original OEM Brembo's. Watched and made sure my mechanic cleaned everything thoroughly and applied anti-squeal compound. He sanded down the pads and rotors, which at this point he said to me the rotor's look a little shiny so it may be the cause of the noise?

Please see the attached picture of the rotor, but note this is after sanding/cleaning/re-greasing and no bed in has been done yet. I drove it home and couldn't do a bed in due to traffic. Is it simply because I need to either do a hard bed in, or drive it more over time to let some more pad material to transfer onto the rotor?

There is another F in my apartment carpark and I had a look at his rotors which is not as shiny as mine as it has more pad material transfer it seems? He too was squealing like me a while back.

Any input you have is much appreciated

 

Also, can you let me know what is the official Project Mu bed in process? I just simply did a couple 90km/h to 20km/h stomps and let it cool down.

I know some may say different....

But using the Brembo Anti-squeal grease really makes a difference..

Also, try to clean off the excess rust on those leading edges.. Use damp clean rag to remove all the orange.

Thanks for that. My mechanic used some Wurth anti-squeal grease that is rated to 1400 degrees. I wanted to try the Brembo grease except I just couldn't get my hands on any at the time. Can you give me a part number so I can try and hunt it down from some local dealers here?


The rust is due to the car just getting a fresh wash and parked there.

Besides trying the Brembo grease do you recommend a bed in procedure?
