Default Car doesn't auto unlock?

I've searched with no luck. Basically I lock the car when I leave it in a parking lot etc using the button on the door, then upon return sometimes it will auto unlock based on the FOB proximity but lately it fails to do this more and more. I even swapped FOB's to the 2nd one that came with the car and it does the same thing.

The buttons will manually unlock it just fine and there is no low battery warning with either of them. Any ideas?

I didn't know that unlocking automatically by proximity was a feature, but I know mine is programmed to unlock when you touch the back of the door handle. Maybe it depends on the MY? Maybe you can reprogram you key fobs to see if you can get it back.

Could it possibly be the car battery? It says you have a 2010, but you could have still killed a battery in a few ways. I know in my BMW, if the car battery is low it starts to shut down non-necessary functions or reduces/slow thems.

By proximity - Puddle lights will come on as you approach. Unlock happens as you touch the front door handles.

I do not think the factory settings unlock on proximity or do I believe you can activate a feature like this in the CBEST programming.

Here is the functional choices in the personalized settings.

so apparently i'm an idiot and didn't know how the features worked. In my defense the car didn't come with any of the manuals.

But I swear I would try and open the car door and it would still be locked. Is there a specific part of the door handle you need to touch?

You just have to touch the back of the door handle. The sensor takes up the majority of it and is pretty sensitive.

On a related note. Does the car lock automatically when you walk away?

no it doesn't automatically lock when you walk away. you have to press that black button on the door handle or use the key fob to lock the car.

to the op check the battery on the key fob or clean the front door handles to make sure nothing is in the way of the sensors.

Auto lock is defaulted to 1 minute when out side of the key proximity. It can be adjusted to 30 or 120 seconds. I do not think this can be turned off?
