Default New Low-Beam Bulb

So i had a passenger low-beam bulb burn out at the end of this week. After some forum research it sounded like Philips was the safe bet. Found some stock equivalents on Amazon for $45 instead of $215 at the dealership. The original bulb I took out (for sure a bulb issue as it has a burn on the side of the glass) and the new bulb I replaced with have the same model number of 42402. However the new bulb is less "blue" than my driver side original bulb. Anyone have any insight? I'm totally bummed as I like the blue look more and I thought these would end up being identical.

i'm sure most of those bulbs are knock offs

try lsalazar@carsontoyota.com, OEM for $140 each, or TOMS 5500k, same price.

Whenever replacing bulbs, you should always replace bulbs as a pair. Its very hard to match color output perfectly and even more difficult when one bulb is older than the other. Also, if one bulb went out, there's a very good chance that the other bulb will go out soon too.

Not to burst your bubble, but the $45 bulb has to be a knockoff. Philips bulbs are very expensive, you will never find one for under $100.

I hope that's not the case. I ordered them from Xenon Corp on Amazon.

Okay, we'll just have to see how long she lasts Outside of OEM or TOMS does anyone else have a suggestion for a good replacement? I do like the color in the more "blue" range.

Its a knock of and as stated replace both when doing so. Every manufacture will always have a different tint to it

HIDs should be replaced in pairs and you have knock offs

as the bulbs get more use on them they lose lumens and their color changes a little bit

I have 3 different sets of OEM bulbs....

They ALL give off different colors..

My best pair is from my old 2008 ISF headlights.. Which I have installed into my 2011 IS headlights since they have the best color..

Believe it or not, I've bought 2 sets from vleds for dirt cheap and they look great. So cheap, if they go out, I'll just buy more. I started with 8k then switched to 5k. These are the ones I'm currently using for $30 a PAIR!

http://www.vleds.com/v-hids-xenon-he...00k-white.html

Great match to the factory led strips and match my 5k hid fogs.

For only $30 bucks, I gave it a shot and I REALLY like them.
