CA is strict on smog but you don't have to actually smog a car until it's I believe 6 years old. Unless maybe you're selling it privately? I dunno, it's something like that especially if you bought it new...it slides past smogging for several years.
So even the 08's haven't really had to smog much yet here in CA...
My understanding was that early on there were some quality issues but they have since improved. So if you're buying new I wouldn't be concerned. It's the older headers that people buy used and then end up re-selling that keep spreading the negative impression IMO.

I have both ppe and sikky , for us socal here, we love joez exhaust and intake and it pair better sounds and performance with sikky. I seen and heard ppe and joez does not sound that good as my set up . Any members seen and heard of my set up Sikky +Joez E/Intake or test drive my car will tell u that the best combos

I will have no issues at all passing smog here in Vegas. They do no visual inspection at all, you cant see the headers anyway. Just plug into the port and will always pass as long as there is no CEL. My STi passed completely catless from the turbo back for 6 years
