Thanks Jowett, I'm actually in the oil change business for over 22 years,.......and live in Canada....and I've never seen this tool before!

I broke 4 filter removal wrenches the first time I tried to change the oil

Whoever put it on before must have been related to the hulk

Eventually the 5th time was a charm, 2 days later, and a sore hand

 

Even applying the correct torque setting when reinstalling this cap...its inherent that the next removal can be difficult, with heat, plastic, "O" ring etc......not necessarily the last guy that touched it.

It helps to use some torque on the cup wrench by using a longer extension when removing the end cap sometimes.

The tool is new, a member on the Tundra Forums came up with it.

 

That's a kickazz tool! It beats the snot out of the fluted cup, and it's dead simple. The only thing I don't like about it is the 3/8" drive. If it were 1/2" drive it would be in my toolbox...

I always use 1/2" drive tools on the filter housing. It needs a lot of torque to break the seal, and an 18" breaker bar is easy to tension and tap to get the filter housing moving.

 

how much oil do we put in the f? 8.7 or 9.8?

 

9.8...that's what the manual says. fill it up...check your dipstick...start the car....let it run for a bit...check the dip stick again just to make sure.
