Default Really F'd Up but fixed it

About a month ago I traded in my 12 ISF for the new 13 M5. I only had about 1500 miles on it. The wife really did not like the car at all. The ride was too harsh, and I really needed a 5 seater. She is more into BMW and Mercedes anyway, nothing wrong with that. She kept saying that Lexus was supposed to be comfortable and this is not. My daughter and I really liked the ISF. So I traded it in towards an F10 M5. It is absolutely an amazing car but almost too grown up for me. I really missed the feel and sound of the ISF. After the breakin period I really enjoyed it especially the last 50 miles before trading it in. I really bonded with the ISF. I washed it three times in about a month. I went through Hurricane Sandy with it. I had to keep it outside during the storm. I kept it covered but the cover kept blowing off every few hours. I kept going out and putting it back on, my family members thought I was nuts. It made it through the storm ok and then I got rid of it. I could not get over it. The M5 is a keeper as a daily driver but believe it or not, the ISF seems to have more of a soul. I love my 1m and M3 and also the ISF. I also think I have neglected the Japanese car fans too long. I was lucky to get it back pretty much for what I traded it in for. So I am the 1st and 2nd owner of my Isf. My ISF has a garage spot, my M5 is outside.

I bet the guys at the dealership were a bit puzzled. That says a lot about the F!

Good move

Here are some pics. The plates were off the F because I was leaving it there and wanted a last picture together. Both cars have some real presence. Garage space is really at a premium. My 1m and tt rs have a couple of inches between them. Consider yourself lucky to have the ISF, it holds up really well against these cars.

Some cars you just regret getting rid of. At least you've got it back near what you traded it in for.

Wow, that's interesting. Although I haven't driven the F10 M5, I was always thinking it's the only car I'd want for a DD over the F. I traded in a F10 535i for the IS-F and I loved that car as far as luxury goes. I just needed a more sporty feel and POWER! I think I'd just rather have my IS-F for a "cheap" DD and then put a Porsche Turbo S, Another GT-R, Audi R8 or possibly a Lambo next to it and the Escalade. I'm just not sure about $100k on a DD that I could pick up for around $70k in 2 years. Just me though. I'd love to hear a comparo between the M5 and F.

I only have about 750 miles on the M5. I have about 1600 on the ISF. The break in on the M5 is 1200 miles. I am following it as much as possible. The car is a beast when I did open it up briefly. It is much more comfortable than the F. It has the adaptive suspension so you get it the way you like it. The steering, throttle response are all configurable to your likeng. Then you can save 2 additional of your favorite settings. Obviously it a bigger car, feels heavier. The ISF is pretty much the way it is suspension wise. I prefer the M5 as a daily driver. The ISF works better for me for limited use. The gas mileage I am getting on both cars is about the same, around 15mpg. I do have my really special cars like the turbo S and GT3 RS already.
