Hello,

I just purchased a new to me 2008 IS-F and I must say I love it. I have a question on some noise I just noticed. I have read about the normal injector noise which I hear but I noticed a different ticking today while pulling into the garage. When the car is in drive, I hear a slightly heavier tick. With the transmission in neutral, reverse, or park I don't hear it.

Anyone experienced this? The car shifts fast and fine.

 

When did it last have an oil change? If it has been a while, get it changed and see if it is still there. Otherwise it may just be normal engine noise.

The oil was changed less than 500 miles ago, so I don't think it's that. Seems like the noise may be from the transmission not the engine when it is in "Drive". It's weird it doesn't do it in reverse though.

It does drive fine and is plenty fast so maybe I'm just hearing something normal.

Check this thread out and see if it sounds like what you're experiencing. It explained mine, bottom line is no one knows really what it is and knock on wood there haven't been any catastrophic engine failures because of it. My mechanic checked out my noise last week and said he could pull the engine apart and would most likely still not figure it out.

I checked the thread that was recommended but for some reason the video is private on youtube, so I cannot listen to the noise. Mine doesn't seem as bad as other's who posted, I just hope it's nothing "bad".
