Default Where do you put jack stands?

After changing out the midsection of my exhaust yesterday, I wasn't real happy with the points we used for the jack stands. We used the points where the oem jack would lift on the car if you were changing a tire, but I didn't feel real good with those points. Is there a better place to let the car sit on the stands?

I usually use the unibody frame rails.

We thought about that, but we thought the stands would get in our way. I DO think that a better point to put them, but not ideal as far as moving around under the car.

Good reads. It seems I did it "correctly" but these cars don't really have the greatest points. I could see the metal moving ever so slightly at the oem jack points and just made me nervous about it bending. We put all 4 jack stands at the oem lift points and left a jack at the front (by oil pan) and a jack on the back (on diff) for extra safety.

On the front, I would use a floor jack on the very thick inner frame rail... On the rear, I would use the underside flat spot on the rear differential.

If your going to use the OEM jacking points where the pinch welds are, for jack stand placements...
You have to have the right ones.

They also make thick rubber pads for extra protection...

These below are nice too.....

A set of hockey pucks on the jack stand is cheep fix. I do this on my lifts with certain cars. Wood blocks work to. Just make sure you set them against the grain or they will split.

I am looking to jack up my car to chage the rear brake pads. After reading some of the threads, i am still not sure the exact points to place the jack stands or jack up the car.
I took a couple of pictures and if anybody can point me to a good location in those pictures to place the jack stands (pic 1 and 2) or to jack up the car(pic 3 and 4), it would be greatly appreciated.

I use the FIGS fitting that fits the seems on the rails, works great! Too bad they don't sell in pairs though.
