My guess would be that there was some curb rash on the original wheel so they just swapped in another one from a crappier car without thinking about if it was the correct one or not.
Thank you one and all for your comments. It seems that my issue is not isolated as at least one other who replied to this thread has the same situation on their IS F. I have an appointment at the dealership on Monday 2/6/12 at 9:00 am so I'll let everyone know what happens. Hopefully they will fix this as it is a potential performance issue (brake cooling) as well as asthetic in nature.
Lol, my dealer put my left front wheel on the right and my right front on the left. you think they know not to do this, but even with a Lexus dealership which I assume they know what they are doing would know that the 08-09 wheels cannot be rotated in any direction.
I think that most dealers don't see the IS-F that often and forget about the specificity of the wheel location.
I just brought mine in for 1k service and it came out with curb rash. I would rather deal with swapped rims any day.
Well, I went to the dealer who looked up the car's history. It appears that there were 20" wheels that the owner had the dealership initially install before he took ownership of the car. At about 300 miles he had them replaced with the standard graphite BBS wheels. It's believed that at this time two left fronts were installed and nobody noticed. The dealership where I purchased the IS F from was not really interested in doing anything so I called the 800 number for Lexus satisfaction where one can deal with issues such as this. Bottom line, Lexus is going to pay half of the cost for the correct wheel and the dealership will mount my tire on the wheel at no charge. I'm happy with this considering it has been since August of 2010 when I purchase it. It is difficult finding these wheels (the dealerships all want at least $1800 for each) but I found a wheel at a place based in Chino, CA for $1k. I should get it in about eight days as its being shipped from their east coast warehouse. Anyway, a very unusual issue with a good resolution.
