I always read the silver texalium carbon on the flat-bottom steering wheels don't match the OEM trim, so I always hesitated to get it. Recently I decided to pick one up on impulse and while I haven't installed it yet, I compared the texalium with the stock trim and took some pics...

I took 2 pics of each angle, one with and one without flash for better comparison...

Front of steering wheel:

Back of steering wheel: (wave-gripped back)

Close up:

From my view, it looks pretty darned close to me. Maybe not 100% but close. Once it's installed with the distance farther apart I doubt anyone can tell a difference. I don't know if it's always been this way or if they improved their texalium match now or if I just got a lucky batch, but I'm quite impressed with the match with the OEM trim...

I got the steering wheel from Lextuners.

Also one more thing, the blue stitching on the wheel is actually a brighter blue than the original. Same hue of blue, just brighter. It's not a bad thing, actually makes the stitching stand out more. Me like.

I have the same steering wheel and I think it matches damn near 100%. If you don't already know Sewell has a great video for the install of the wheel, that's what I used.

What year is your car? I have a 2011, and it seems the texalium has a bit more yellow tint to it than the earlier models. I had a chance to look at the texalium from a 2008 and it does appear whiter than mine. I also have the white carbon fiber wheel with the flat bottom, and it is whiter than my texalium. It's not very noticeable, but definitely more noticeable than your pictures.

Looks good, do you have to send your stock steering wheel in as a core or does the price include the entire wheel itself? I couldn't let get of my stock wheel, it has the white leather on the bottom center which I like, so I could have two if so!

Yeah they changed the tex for 2011. You got dark borders now instead of our white ones, and overall there seems to be more color to it. So I can see how it won't match yours.

It is in most areas I think, especially on the side grips. But I wish the inside bumps on the 2 and 10 o'clock position were thicker. Perhaps next time I'll do a thickness comparison....

No, you buy the steering wheel outright. You got the Neiman Marcus edition? (I think that's the only model with the white leather on steering wheel). Actually if I had that steering wheel as stock then I wouldn't change it :P I have alpine leather as well and wish I had that white insert on my stock wheel. It's super unique...
