Default Header install cost

Tried to look around for a good basic cost thread but there isn't one. Mine is at the shop now, and I couldn't find anyone who quoted lower than 900. It all boiled down too being afraid of the car and what it might hide. But I noticed a lot on the boards paid roughly 600-850 it seems. Just wondering what the real install average would run. Thinking the shop had everything go faster than they expected, but I'm getting the feeling they are gonna work it to get the higher quote. *sigh*

Hit up Jotech in Dallas, TX. May not be the cheapest but itll be the highest quality by far. They have a dyno as well.

If they don't have experience installing IS-F headers, they are going to underestimate the time and how much work it takes to install them. It's a very tight fit, very difficult install, and you won't get a quote lower than $900 or $1000 unless the shop has experience installing them or you get hooked up.

I think most shops don't know what they are in for and just give you a ballpark #, until they are finished installing.

An experienced shop like PPE takes 6-8hrs to install their own headers.

Cost is an issue but I too would be concerned if the shop is capable of doing a quality job for the F.

Dv8, Where in California did you get your headers installed? I haven't been to a socal shop that charges your price range.

Avg, I will be more concerned if the shop is/is not capable of installing the headers. Budget and save up, then you must make sure you find a shop that can install these for sure.

Shop in my town(Napa). A buddy of mine that owns the shop preformed the install.

I've done the install on these myself, and without a lift and air tools it gets to be a bit difficult. Its a really tight spot and has strange angles to reach the bolts you need to untighten. Get it professionally done if you can, it will save you an afternoon of headaches trying to do it on the ground.

It really depends on the shop and the area. The going rate at reputable shops around here is $1,200.

P.S. this includes high-flow cat installation.

i personally think this install is pretty straight forwardl, however a little "frustrating" if you would call it that. taking the motor mounts right off the block (4 14mm bolts i think....) on each side. if the driver side can be done first it will help because there is more clearance, then you can pry the block over on the passenger side to get the header up there. also, all stock studs and nuts can be used. if you do this yourself, or you pass on the information to whoever does, it will shave off some time and be easier/cheaper.

I cant imagine my guy would charge more than 700 for the install and another 250 to the muffler guy next door to put the cats in and flange them with aluminized test pipes up here in NORCAL.
