Ow! Hope everyone is feeling OK. I live in the same area, Newark specifically. I can recommend TJ Brothers on Centralmont (east of where Central crosses 880). They did some spectacular work on my Toyota Matrix and were always careful to use 2nd-source parts when possible. I can show you before/after pics if you are interested, it's really something!
Take care.

Cool A big Thank You to CL members!!

Let me first extend a big THANK YOU to all that expressed their words of comfort and sympathy.

As stated, any car can be fixed or replaced. More importantly, we didn't sustain any major physical injuries.

Well CL, it looks like (as I always expected) that the damages will be covered by the other parties' insurance. How they determine which of the two pays what percentage of the total I could care less. All I want is for my IS F to be brought up to the condition it was in before the collision.

After having the car sit in my garage a few days, I finally had some time to take a few pictures.

left rear inside trunk, crash beam, left corner crumple, rear end (impact sensor), left side diffuser

They will be replacing portions of the frame and trunk floor areas to ensure the integrity and stiffness of original crumple zones. I was told repairing it might either make it stronger or weaker than before so that replacing it would be best to maintain the same design properties for impact.

I'll post up pics of repair progress if available but most definitely the post repair results.

damn that damage totally sucks man!!! glad you are ok!!! i would replace the whole car if it was me...iv'e had cars before that have had the repairs that you are stating and even from a top notch body shop it's not the same after it was fixed... also you will always have it in the back of your head that this car had some repairs....If you can get another car. Also, this will kill the re-sale value of the car.

Is the frame damaged, what i have heard is no matter who does teh repairs the car is never the same after teh frame damage is fixed. That said when you decide to sell the car you will get a very poor resale value. Sorry to hear about this. I had to go through the same process and I sat with the adjuster and had him open the car to the frame and made sure every part is looked at. finally he decided to total it and gave me the cash.

B2 body will use after market parts and they are very biased towards the insurance adjusters. If you want a good body shop call capitol Subaru and ask them their recommended shop. It is very nice. Also talk with Lexus and get their recommended shop. I would not allow the body shop to put aftermarket parts on my car. I fought like hell. The price difference was $60.

Good luck, I am local (Sunnyvale) so if you need any help let me know.

Sorry to hear about your bad luck and all the headaches/undeserved stress this event is casuing. It is UNBELIEVABLE how bad drivers in the USA are becoming. People texting, riding the left lane, not accelerating at an appropriate speed on highway on-ramps, and not looking ahead for stopped traffic. I still have made my mind up if the reason behind it all is if people just dont give a s--t anymore or if they cant remember what they learned in driving school. If i were you, i'd say my neck might be hurting just a bit right now *wink* Keep us updated!

Wow, that looks and sounded horrendous. Glad you came out OK. Take it to a Lexus certified bodyshop. Hope it all works out well!

Red face Repairs in process

I dropped off the IS F this past Monday (10/17/11) Below are pics posted by shop showing progress. It's painful to look at. Can't vouch for the picture quality as they were posted/uploaded by the Body shop... Original estimate was fourteen days labor at about 7k parts and labor. I just got a call that it might be ready by sometime next week. Ahead of schedule... Can't over emphasize how much I miss driving my car.

Ouch, that looks bad, but I'm sure it will turn out like you never had an accident once it's finished!

Be sure to get every penny of depreciation money you can from their ins company. You car has lost a TREMENDOUS amount of value because of that accident and you should be reimbursed.

Now how to do that?

Last time when i talked with the ins company they told me that that's why it is called an accident. The adjuster gave me all sorts of certificates saying that the car is very safe and the value will not go down etc.. all total BS.

The bottom line was to suck it up and that's all. That's when I fought very hard to get my car totaled.

I think I drove by you....accident backed up traffic that's for sure!

Nothing you can do in this case - this is the result of other people who text or don't pay attention while driving, no super car or spectacular driving skill will save you from that. This is why I avoid rush hour or drive my beater if I know I'm going to be stuck in traffic.

Our SUV has metal braces front and rear (especially rear tow hook...hehe) so anyone who hits us will be in serious trouble. Last time I got hit was sitting on 880 just before we hit the bay bridge (stupid suicide jumper blocked traffic for HOURS, remember?) I won't stereotype but this "couple" in a old Ford Taurus smashed right into us at 5mph stop and go traffic. No damage to my truck except the tow hitch but his bumper got destroyed. Idiot wouldn't even get out of his car nor show me any ID. If he apologized and told me the situation or offered me some money I would have just let it go as we were late to Gary Dankos already. But scum told me his brakes failed and had no insurance, registration or even driver's license. Cops came and basically took his keys out and put it on the trunk. He told us we were ok to leave after taking our statements but the other guy was not going anywhere after that incident! haha

Do the other parties have insurance? The last person car who started the chain reaction is responsible for all the collisions so be sure to get their info. Doesnt look bad, time to pick up a new exhaust or body kit while you are at it. Looks like the middle car took most of the impact so you are lucky.
