If they are not a full blown agency, that might be the reason you were let go with out a citation for emissions or modified exhaust

^^^Exactly. Or maybe their agency tells them not to enforce certain minor codes--to be available for other things on campus, etc.

myself-Evening officer, may I asked why I've been pulled over?
cop-Well, I'm pulling you over because you've got some loud pipes. I need license, registration, and insurance.
myself-I was not speeding or anything, so I'm just being ticketed for loud exhaust sound? Is there a certain decibel threshold? (I'm fully aware there is, but I was going slow and nowhere near it)

He then goes back to his cruiser and comes back all to tell me that if he can hear the car within 50 yards, the exhaust is too loud. He then proceeds to tell me that he "can't really ticket you. Just letting you know it's quite loud."

My friend in the passenger's seat is laughing right in front of this situation and the cop eventually cuts off conversation and says I am free to go. My guess is that he realized how ridiculous this traffic stop really was.

By the way, I'm running Sikky headers, ISS Forged exhaust, and K&N intake, so I understand it's quite loud. I'm not an idiot.

Just figured I would share my laugh for the night.

So basically your exhaust is really loud, but you didn't get a ticket because this cop was an idiot. Lucky you!

I was once pulled over by a cop who left another traffic stop to pull over my SC. He ended up letting me go but admitted he wanted to see what kinda car it was that flew past him and sounded like it did.

If you were in California, you will get a fix-up ticket.

Does this law not apply to other vehicles on the road? There are motorcycles and trucks that are far louder than my ISS Forged exhaust.

Wow, this thread really took off. Haha.

I'll post pictures and videos soon because my ISS Forged wheels just got on the car. Looks sick!

Try to get some up this week. Cheers!

Here the University police have the same authority as the local police. In fact, they respond and help the local pd and vice versa. They aren't "higher up" than the state police or sheriffs, but every state is probably different.

Whether he gave you a ticket or not was probably just up to his judgement.

When I got puled over for "MODIFIED EXHAUST" He told me why he pulled me over and I said, but Lexus makes this exhaust. He said, do you want me to get my Decibel checker? I said, NOPE! hahaha then he left
