You can just clean the area thoroughly, and apply touch up paint. About 2 coats should do, 1 coat, wait for it to dry, then again. Can't tell from a distance.
Well I had a run in with a curb this past weekend while in CT. I just wanted to see if anyone has repaired and touched up their wheels lately? Maybe some before and after pics. It's not too deep, I may just be able to smooth the rough area down with sandpaper. Then touch up with the duplicate-color or 1E3 Toyota. All advice is welcome.
Actually, to repair that, you'll need to sand the area before applying any touch up paint. Go to any auto store and pick up some very fine waterproof sand paper. You'll need to start off with something like 320 grit to get the rough stuff off, then move to 400 grit and finish up with 600 grit. Mask off the tire and the area of the wheel below the rash so you don't screw them up. And, go slow, be careful and don't sand any more than you need to. Our wheels are forged, not cast. And the sanding method works well on a forged wheel.
Thanks guys for your input. I did watch some videos of some wheel repair. Some of these DIY repairs they also used bondo or jb weld. But I will start with sanding first and see how that works. I hope the color is very close with dupli-color.
It's to bad we can't get a matching paint code, going on 6 years that's Ridiculous!
I just bought some of this touch up paint for the wheels and I don't think it matches. Am I the only one that thinks that? it is 1E3 paint code and seems much lighter than the wheel itself.
Anyone have any input on this?
Old thread but this is my experience, on my 2011 factory wheels that touch up is wayyyyyyyyyy too light. Almost need to add an oz or 2 of black to it to darken it up
Any new developments for touch up paint that matches the BBS dark grey wheels?
^^^^I have upgraded my wheels to stock base RCF wheels. Same color as my old '08 wheels. My new wheels had one spot that need a dab of paint. IE3 still working fine for me.

I mean it works for small touch ups, wont notice from a a few feet away just not an exact match on larger touch ups and becomes noticeable to me. Its much lighter on my wheels, darkening it up a bit with some black helps it blend in on my 2011 wheels anyway
Amazing that lexus cant put out a touch up for these

Lou, could you post a picture of that spot you touched up for reference?
