Default Rotor + Pad Options. /determining replacement time / Vendors?

Just wondering if there is new news or updates for front and rear rotor options for the IS-F?

I plan to change my brake pads out right away with Carbotech Bobcats - are rotor replacements manditory when changing out pads?

My rotors right now ive noticed are not flat / smooth, They have many gooves in them. Ive seen this on a few IS-F's already now and wondered if this is normal or if this is an indicator that the rotors need to be replaced as well?

I got the carbotech bobcats on the front and had the rotors machined. The stopping power was good at first but now after 3 months or so the braking sucks. I wish I could figure out whether the pads are just bad or the rotors are causing it due to them being machined.

I'm about to order some Carbotech Bobcats and Centric Rotors. Can anyone offer a good vendor or supplier of each? Tire Rack right now has to special order the front rotors. I would really like to make the entire purchase through one company.

Thanks.

I'm running a set of front rotors I bought for $50 used. They were turned with a brake lathe, and they suck rocks. If I'd paid more than $50 for them I'd probably be pretty pissed off. I would never turn one of these rotors unless I had a very compelling reason like a deep score. Most rotor turning results in poorer braking performance, not better. Surface irregularities on the OEM rotors do not impact performance once the new pads are bedded in.

SO how my factory rotors are grooved - this is normal and fine?....its like ripples from inside to outter edge. its not a nice flat surface.

Yes...normal and grooved is fine. And whatever you do, make sure you tell the dealership *not* to smooth or grind down the rotors. Because if you do, they'll come out looking like this:

...which gave this owner a very unpleasant feeling in his stomach.

The stealership machined mine and they didn't look like that . Mine came out smooth. I wonder what went wrong here...I feel bad for the owner.

It takes a very skilled person to machine drilled rotors... and even then the performance will decrease...

These "channel grooves" we are all seeing is an unfortunate side effect of having drilled rotors and high friction (damaging & dusty) oem pads.
Bonus = Great "Stopping Power"!!!

The constant temp. difference in the area that follows the holes is what eventually causes the uneven grooves.

I recently installed new oem rotors with Project Mu pads..
I can already tell they are very forgiving to the rotors and the grooves will take a whole lot longer to show up.

But the PMu pads will only work well for Street use.. In my opinion "Stopping Power" is adequate for daily driving.
