The color and the pink or red rock candy that forms makes it very easy to find coolant leaks on Toyota and Lexus products. Sometimes it takes a little time build up like that but you can always look for the red stains around hoses and other cooling system parts.

Can someone post a DIY for the job? Everyone says its easy. That's great news because this will be my first time wrenching on this particular car. More than capable. However I never go in blind. thanks for the help.

I have a 2008 ISF with 140,000 miles on it. The water pump has been leaking since around 135,000. I took it to my Lexus dealership and then called corporate and asked for a good-will credit since I have read about how many water pumps on our cars have failed. I was skeptical that they would help me out with anything since my car is 8 years old and has a lot of miles compared to others ISF's but they discounted half of the service for me. I'm very pleased with their customer service and ability to have a case manger who can look into the details of the issue and help out. I know they can't discount things all of the time, but this time it helped me. So for any of you guys who are out of warranty, try giving lexus corporate a call and seeing what they can do.

i'll check mine again this weekend. but I bought an extended warranty so it should pay for itself if I do need to replace the pump.

QUESTIONS: is the replacement pumps the MY 2010 and up? I would think so. maybel i'll just replace if small leak anyways to for preventive measures.

From what I recall, members who owned a 2008-2009 IS F with some 2010 vehicles needed replacement of the water pump. Mine was replaced under extended warranty, and couple this with some minor items to address, it clearly paid for itself.

You can't buy the failure prone coolant pump anymore. It is not available.

Toyota changed the part number, and the old part number shows superceded any time you try to order one. You can't get the old one.

Exclamation too much pink....

few weeks ago I was at the track and it was my third time, when I've changed my track wheels to my aftermarket wheels, I saw a huge amount of pink liquid, I'm assuming coolant and they're underneath the car...its a lot of them, however there's no leak on the reservoir overflow and on the engine bay...could it be the water pump. I filled my coolant reservoir a week before the track... BTW when I purchased the car, the water pump issue has been corrected already on 2012, based on the lexus record.

When you try buying the water pump on ebay it shows new revised pump for the ISF. So you won't buy a defective one or you can buy form vendor here and get a 10 percent discount too.

Chris,

That could be a significant coolant leak on the valley plate... I would say leaking for a while and exaggerated more by the track sessions.

Did you recently have the ELF work done?? Or not yet..??

If it's leaking from the valley plate, that means it's pooling at the top of the motor and dumping out of the rear when driving...

You should be able to lean over past the battery and flash a light down the back of the motor.. From there if you see pink on the lower firewall or top of trans., that will be your confirmation..

If not, that you can have a leaking coolant line for the interior heater or other..
Those two send & return lines are also right next to the battery and enter the firewall...

Let us know..
