I knew I should have taken pics of the hard wire. It's pretty easy. I took a piece of RJ11, soldered two ends (power & ground) and pushed it into the back of the mirror harness. You can also get a Stealth Cord that does the same thing. Check out this thread https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...full-post.html. You can probably skip to page 14. Hope that helps.

I drove around today and radar picked up fine. I'll need to borrow my coworkers x50 and have them go head to head to see if the dots affect the alert distance. Also forgot to mention that if you mount it over the mirror you need to take the radar down to get the sunglass holder. I don't use it anyway.

Default So awesome

Thank you for posting this! Exactly what I was looking for - I like the blendmounts but they are just too visable and expensive for what they are.

I picked one up for my Escort x50 :-) In prep of getting my ISF

Spoke to Escort when i bought my 9500, and they actually recommended placing the radar on the dash. So i use the suction cups and have the radar right on the dash to the right of the center speaker with the wire nicely coming down the side of the nav/radio unit connecting to the extension cord running on the side of the seat and into the center compartment.

Instead of spending the outrageous amount for the blend mount, I did this for much cheaper and it works great.

As an update, the radar detector is working well above the mirror. Concealing it behind the dots makes it worth not having to take it down each time I park the car versus dash or below the mirror mounts.

Thats exactly my thoughts - I used to have it sitting on the dash in my GS400... im always taking it down when i leave the car parked in parking lots.. its not worth having someone smash in a window causing 1k worth of damage. I hard wired a friends V1 up in a similar location - you cant see it outside the car.. which is perfect!

Nice, thanks for the write up! I've been hesitant on pulling the trigger on an Escort Redline because it's fairly bulky and would be fugly below the mirror. This would be a great alternative; especially if it doesn't affect performance.

That actually looks really nice, wish I went this route instead... I actually spent the money on the BlendMount and MirrorTap. Right now I am running the BEL V995, plan to upgrade to the Escort 8500 X50 Black later down the road... I wouldn't mind getting the mount you did - Since the dots doesn't effect the radar itself and I think it looks better where you have placed it
