What's the reason for foldable rear headrests?
Hey guys, why do the 2010+ F models have foldable rear headrests? What's the reasoning on this? I was just wondering. I can't figure out any reason other that maybe for childs car seats or maybe just visibility?
What do you mean foldable? Do they flip down? If they're flip-down, it's to improve visibility out the back window.
I'm not sure if the 08's have this feature. I'll check tonight too when I get home.
Hmmm, to me, it seems like it would be better to just remove them instead of folding them down. But, I guess it's handy for those people that have back seat passengers a lot.

Ahhh well boooo then on not having it. I have thought before to possibly just remove them as stated above. I hardly ever have rear passengers and when I do they are only in for like 15-20min at most so guess they could just live without them.
they are not even in the way, pretend you drive a truck and can only use ur side mirrors if you cant see out of the other 95% of the window hahaha
or just make better use of the camera if its a backing up issue

Yeah that is something I deal with when towing my enclosed trailer and its not really an issue then so very true.
The ISX50 got the foldable rear headrests in '09. The ISF in '10. I, personally don't like 'em. They look cheap to me, and of absolutely no value. My vision is just fine through the rear window, thank you very much
I took picts of them on a '10 model last year.

I was clueless! Compared to my GS, rear and rear 3/4 vision is very much compromised and, despite proper adjustment of side view mirrors, still a cause for some concern. Got the blind spot covered but, between the right rear headrest and the C pillar, still gives me a bit of a claustrophobic feeling. Bad enough that the A pillar takes a big chunk of left front visual field. More visibility is always a good thing from a driver's point of view. Should have realized Lexus would cover that base some way.
Plus my rear headrests appear taller than those pictured.
I think this is the dawn of a new day!

I drive with mine down, and it helps with rearward visibility...more visibility is always welcome, in my book.
However, it is funny when passengers hop in the back, and don't know they can be adjusted to normal position. It's always good to watch that for a while.
