Weird electrical(?) issues with an '08 F
I'm having a few weird issues with my F that I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced.
First, my left HID headlight has started acting up. Recently, I noticed that when I leave my house at night, both headlights are illuminated, but when I arrive at my destination, the left one is off. When I power cycle the lights, they both turn on, but the left one buzzes VERY loudly and will eventually shut off.
Second, from time-to-time, my driver's door won't lock. No matter if I press the button on the door handle or use the FOB, every door but the driver's will lock. Sometimes, no matter what I do, it won't lock. Other times, I have to hit unlock on my FOB a few times, and then hit lock before I can get the car fully locked.
I have a dealership appt. for later today, but wanted to post here to see if anyone has experienced similar issues?

All these random issues with Lexus really have me concerned in the long term reliability.
I have experienced:
2008 ISF:
- Pulling to the right that no dealer is willing to fix or alignment shop can fix. Annoying as heck, but I have managed to deal with it.
- Touchscreen failure, $4000-5000 part once out of warranty.
- "Clunk" from the airbox flap when turning off the engine that all dealers say it's normal.
- Engine tapping noise that's a post in this forum - dealer says it's normal.
- Rear brake squeal, but since my pads are too low for the TSIB, it won't be addressed.
2006 IS350:
- IP Cluster needles dead, $1200 part brand new. Since car was out of warranty by 1 month (not miles,) dealer wouldn't replace it out of good faith, which is understandable. Purchased a used one on eBay for $200.
- All the previous recalls: brake caliper, fuel line, master brake cylinder, and now some loose fuel line issue. Not a big deal, as loaners are provided. But that is of concern in long term quality.
I suppose the issues above aren't that glowering, as in they haven't left me stranded. But once the warranty is up, whatever electrical part that fails will be at least a couple thousand.
Too bad there isn't an ISF with regular halogens, no AFS, no moonroof, no NAV/touchscreen. Electrical failures/bugs seem to be the #1 issue with modern cars these days.
I wonder how much an OEM HID ballast is once the car is out of warranty?
